Friday Fire, Turmeric, Rainbow Chard and Ginger booster

It’s almost the weekend and today we all have a choice to look at our busy week and focus on our worries or the joys that have crossed our path. The weekend for most is a time to recover and recharge the batteries. However for lots of us it can be the start of full days negotiating with our children, being judge and jury to the squabbles and trying to teach our little bundles of joy that they are born with so much to live, be thankful for and enjoy. For parents we have to constantly remind ourselves that they were born into a different generation and often our little angels don’t know anything different. With the competition being fierce its a fine line and a daily challenge for us all to balance the appreciation for what we have.

This week I had the joy of talking to a lifelong friend, I call her this not because I have known her for a lifetime but because I know I will know her for the rest of mine. You come across people in life that just stick, while both adoring and admiring them, you share a piece of your soul with them and they just bring a smile and warmth to your heart whenever you speak to them. You know who you are, and to help you through your weekend and a week earned break from your busy life,  I made this so delicious cleansing, inflammation booster and glowing smoothie that I know you will love. I’m starting my Friday with this kick start, then some house declutter and donations followed by a hot yoga class to loosen up the sore muscles from a week of training for our upcoming Seawheeze half marathon. I’m hoping this will give me the armour for the weekend ready to enjoy my family in this amazingly beautiful spot on the earth, Vancouver!

You will Need

  • 5cm Turmeric peeled
  • 1 inch or more depending or spicy preference of Ginger root
  • large handful of Rainbow Chard
  • sprig of fresh mint
  • 1 peeled lime
  • a sprinkle of Cayenne pepper
  • 8 oz Coconut water
  • 1/2 cup of honey dew melon
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1/2 cup ice

Steps to yummy

  1. Using your blender ( I can’t live without my Vitamix) pulse to break down ginger and turmeric
  2. Add all other ingredients and blend on smoothie setting
  3. Pour into a glass that makes you smile, add a garnish of your choice , I add a little chilli to give me a kick start
  4. Drink and start your day with an added boost!
